03 Mar 2018 DCL Staff

The Tuscaloosa Symphony Orchestra is once again partnering with the Tuscaloosa Community Dancers for the annual Family Discovery Concert – set for Monday, March 5.

This year’s concert is titled Dancing Musical Characters and will feature the Tuscaloosa Community Dancer’s interpretation of Benjamin Britten’s classic Young Person’s Guide to the Orchestra. David Duff, renowned NPR radio personality, will narrate Britten’s great work alongside the orchestra.

Dancing Musical Characters begins at 6 p.m. – and that evening at 5 p.m., the doors will open with an instrument petting zoo sponsored by the Tuscaloosa Symphony Guild, where children of all ages can try instruments from all the families.

Tickets for the show are $10. The evening’s concert is open to everyone in the community, is only one hour long, and is very informal.  Children of all ages are encouraged to attend.

The show is an opportunity for the TSO to perform for all area 5th grade students.  The TSO hosts three, free morning concerts open to all public, private, and homeschooled students organized in conjunction with area teachers.

Tickets and complete season information are available at tsoonline.org or by calling (205) 752-5515.
